What are Threads?

Silhouette and PDO Thread Lifts are a non-surgical procedure that use dissolving thread sutures to provide a lifting effect. The sutures are applied deep within the skin of the target area to help reduce the appearance of aging skin in the jaw line, neck and face. It is a minimally invasive procedure suitable for both men and women. The procedure also helps to trigger the growth of collagen in the target area for longer lasting results.

How fast will I see results?

The threading procedure can often cause short-term swelling and bruising immediately after the procedure is complete in the targeted area. Once the swelling and bruising has gone down, the positive effects from the procedure are typically immediately visible, however the increased collagen production that can often also occur to help secure the results can take some time to develop and varies for each patient.

Is it surgery?

No, silhouette and PDO threading are non-surgical procedures that are minimally invasive and generally considered painless. Our trained Essence Medical staff will explain the entire procedure to you before commencing to ensure you are comfortable with the process involved.

What can it be used for?

There are many applications for a thread lift. At Essence Medical we offer it for 3 specific target areas where we've found it to be the most effective:

  • Soft Face Lift

  • Neck Lift

  • Jaw Line Lift

How many threads will I need?

As part of your FREE consultation, our staff will help you in determining how many sutures/ how much threading you are likely to need for your specific area of concern. The number needed not only depends on the size of the target area but also the existing state of your skin.

Are the threads safe?

The two types of threads/ sutures that we use at Essence Medical are fully dissolvable. Our team regularly seeks out the best possible options on the market to ensure we only provide you with the safest for your body both short-term and long-term. The threads are designed to naturally dissolve and be safely broken down by your body over time.

How does the procedure work?

Within the procedure the dissolving thread sutures are inserted under the skin in the target area. The threads are used to reposition the skin and secure it in place as desired. The nature of the sutures lift the skin and help to keep it in place even after the threading has dissolved.

Who shouldn't use it?

As part of your FREE consultation, our staff will run through any and all concerning medical conditions you may have to ensure silhouette threading is only done when deemed safe. In general, silhouette and PDO threads are not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What are the side effects?

All medical and cosmetic procedures come with a degree of risk. Immediate side effects of silhouette and PDO threading can be bruising and swelling at the threading sites that generally resolves within 7-10 days of the procedure. We are always happy to direct you to more detailed procedure paperwork upon request and to consult with you about any other potential risks for your unique condition.
